Was well fired up for a good session today but somehow it didn´t quite happen. Ended up having a fairly average session, in terms of both conditions and performance. Nicely powered up on my 5.2 rigged flat, at times a fraction underpowered. Being just after low tide when I went out (2.30pm) the water state was pretty flat, and again the chop/swell on the outside wasn´t really co-operating for good jumping. Made a few nice tacks and gybes, but the majority were not so good compared with other days. Really want to perfect them now before I leave in (oh no...only...) 3 weeks time. Now, even if I make a dry gybe, I get a bit frustrated if it has a wobbly finish, since I really want to start planing out of them now, as well as (obviously...) making all of them dry. I suppose this is a good sign generally, since it shows I am improving. When I first arrived making the majority of my transitions dry in one session, no matter how, would have been cause for major celebration. But now I really want to get them sweet as.

Feel I need to try something a bit different now to add a bit of spice to my sessions, which are sometimes getting a bit stale and samey now. Will try and pull the duck gybes out of the closet again maybe and see if I can get them going.

I´m starting to get a bit tired of the old and heavy Axxis now. After sailing the much lighter and more manouverable Wave 79 the other day, I´ve realised again how much more fun and better for my progression a board like that is. Instead of the Axxis, which is heavy, not so fun to jump, no where near as loose and generally a bit dull at times in the open-sea conditions we have here. Also the waves are getting bigger now so really want to try some more wave-riding, which will be infinitely easier and more enjoyable (obviously...) on a wave board. Unfortunately the Wave 79 was being used today by someone else, but will have a go on it tomorrow if it´s free, or if not on another of our centre's wave boards.
